“Plastered Playthings” is a series of soft ground etchings using the Barbie doll and her clothing as the mark-making tool.  The textures of the dresses, faces and hair pick up the ground where the image is then etched into the copper.  Barbie transforms from her original, gross representation of womanhood into a more refined, ephemeral impression limited by her clothing and hair.  I repurpose the doll so Barbie’s parts are no longer iconic. The etched image’s delicate appearance is separate from the original context of the doll.
